Dinoco truck birthday cake

This birthday was supposed to be celebrated already a couple of weeks ago, but due to unfortunate circumstances and little birthday boy's misfortune, the party was postponed.

The theme of this cake the birthday boy decided to be "the King's truck", i.e. the blue Dinoco truck from Disney Pixar's Cars. When I asked what the flavour should be, the answer was "Lightning McQueen, so red". Right, ok. Strawberry it is then :)

I made the entire truck out of cake,
so the sharp shapes were difficult
to execute
I used cereal and biscuit crumbs as
"sand" to cover the base

Congratulations Aapo, 4 years!

  1. Hi, my son who's also turning four, wanted the exact same thing for his birthday. We were glad to see someone had already done it! Could you tell me what size pans you used or how you made the front of the truck and the hat? Also, where did you find the dinoco label? I'm very impressed. Thanks for any tips!

  2. Hi, I used sheet cake bases for the entire cake and carved the shape by hand. The dinoco label was actually first cut out of plastic sheet as a template and then airbrushed onto a thin sheet of fondant which was then cut into shape. It could obviously be painted on as well if you're not lucky enough to own an airbrush machine :)
